Double Page Article Analysis


The choice of artist which is featured in the double page article is Austin, who is an American jet- setting pop star. This tells us that the audience would be girls, specifically aged 10-15 because in the article is says “American cutie pie”. The artist Austin expresses that the type of genre is pop which is also stated in the article therefore, this gives a hint that the target audience will be young girls who are into pop music and that follow the pop artist Austin.

The type of language that is used in the double page article is informal and semi-formal, such as; king of, one lucky, and many more words. The informal language gives a clue  that the target audience is aimed at young kids as the informal language is more understandable to kids whereas if it was formal it would be hard for kids to understand. It is also more interesting to read when it is informal.

The colors which are primarily used are red, white and black. The red color is used mainly on the sub titles and the fill of the boxes. The white is used for some of the bold text and the background and the black is used for article. The red is chosen to be in the boxes is because it is a bright color which is easily eye catching from far and it brightens up the double page article. The white is used so it doesn't distract the reader when they are reading; it also is another bright color  The black text is used so the reader can easily read it whereas if it was red it would be hard to read and it would be distracting.

There are different styles of text which is used in the article for example, in the article there is a simple black text whereas on the sub titles and titles the text is bold and bright. The reason why the sub titles and titles are bold is because it has to be easily visible and eye catching. The texts titles are tilted to make it more interesting and less formal as the target audience is aimed at kids.

The double page article is spread out with questions, answers and images. The title is laid out at the very top of the page and is the largest text to show that it is the title. Above the questions and answers there is an image of who the article is about. Under the image there is the article which is laid out in questions and answers. On the other side lays a different image of the artist in a larger image. The images around the double page article takes up most of the second page this is because it gives the reader a better understanding of what they are reading and it makes it more interesting to see.

The tone of the magazine when addressing the reader is informed intelligent fans, as there are questions which the artist answers informing the reader about himself.  The artist is presented to the audience as a pop star as he is dressed as a stylish person with a guitar. The style of the magazine fits in with the front cover as the house style is the same, keeping it professional. The font also stays the same as people won’t get confused in what they are reading. The magazine doesn't require any prior knowledge because the writer that wrote the article has only written questions and answers of the artist.
